There are several factors that contribute to power loss, and these include:
double line-frequency voltage ripple
fast irradiance variation
fast dc load variation
non-uniform solar cell characteristics
limited operating voltage range
Modern systems can get the loss down to 3% but there are always going to be some mitigating factors. The deviation from the maximum power point is generally what is measured and with a tracker, the 3% or less loss can be realized. |
