Hybrid Electric Vehicles

A great trend that is starting to become available to average consumers are Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Research began more than a decade ago, and over the past few years, there have been several HEVs developed, which are powered by batteries and fuel simultaneously. And more recently HEVs have been developed in drive trains of busses, heavy duty trucks and military vehicles. Hopefully, this trend will continue to lead to even more vehicles that not only reduce dependence on oil, but also save consumers money.

Can anyone direct me to some high end information resources on the latest developments in alternative fuels? I am looking for broad information, including both for transportation, as well as for power generation.

Toyota produces the hybrid car "Prius" which is selling welll overseas(more than 88,000 have been sold in the United States in 2004-2005). Toyoto leads in hybrid sales, with cumulative global sales of 381,500 units. Hybrid vehicles deliver good mileage performance by switching to between a gasoline engine and an electric motor.

the gasoline electric motor was invented in the mid 1800s lol
but the preus is a good car i know people who drive them.

I don't understand why more time and money is not spent on total electric vehicles with on board charging systems. I'm no genius, I just know how to fix and build things, but it seems to me there are at least a couple of possibilities along these lines. I have worked out a couple in theory, but am financially unable to pursue them at this time. I would love to find someone in the private sector to help me develop and test my theories. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that clean, almost infintely renewable energy should be given a look. :lol:
